2017 marks the 350th anniversary of Jonathan Swift's birth in 1667.
'A Modest Proposal' celebrates this anniversary with solo exhibitions by David O'Kane
at Cavanacor Gallery in Donegal, Ireland and at the Josef Filipp Galerie in Leipzig, Germany.
The artwork is inspired by the infamous essay, 'A Modest Proposal' by Jonathan Swift,
which was first printed in 1729 by Sarah Harding in Copper Alley, Dublin.

All of the lithographs will be included in a special limited edition large scale book.

An exhibition of painting, drawing, lithography, photography and video by Edward O'Kane and David O'Kane at Cavanacor Gallery to commemorating the 50th anniversary of Flann O'Brien's/Brian O'Nolan's death on April Fool's Day 1966.
David O'Kane created a special edition lithograph (pictured above) for the anniversary exhibition.
The lithograph is based on images taken at Brian O'Nolan's birthplace in Strabane, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The lithograph is in an edition of of 30 copies with a page format of 38 cm x 49,5 cm. It was produced in Leipzig at the Stein_Werk lithography studio.
It is available for sale from Cavanacor Gallery.

This new edition of loose sheets celebrates the 50th anniversary of the original publishing of 'Imagination Dead Imagine' by Samuel Beckett in 1965. The project is a collaboration between typographic designer Jamie Murphy & visual artist David O'Kane. The work is introduced with an essay by renowned Beckett scholar Stanley E. Gontarski. The launch took place on the 10th of August in the Long Room Library at Trinity College. The launch was accompanied by a special reading of Samuel Beckett's short story by renowned Irish actor Stephen Brennan.

David O'Kane has won the prestigious Golden Fleece Award. The award ceremony took place on the 4th of March 2014. Merit Prizes were won by Emma Bourke and Claire Muckian. Sarah Gillespie, Carol Hodder and Siobhan McDonald were also all shortlisted for the award.
